I recently had the honour of photographing Nat & Matt's wedding at St Augustine's church, Royal Tunbridge wells followed by the reception at The Royal Tunbridge Hotel. The bride looked stunning in a vintage style lace detailed dress and the day was a huge success. The burnt orange colour scheme worked fantastically well. I have recently shot 2 weddings down in Devon. The first being the wedding of Lindsay and Andrew @ The horn of plenty, nr Tavistock which went really well. The bride looked stunning and the setting was beautiful, nestled into the Devonshire countryside on the foot of Dartmoor.

I was honoured to be asked to photograph the wedding of Sarah & Carlos at the amazing venue set in the Devon countryside. The wedding ceremony took place inside the manor followed by drinks in the grounds. What a lovely day it was, the sun was shining and the bride looked spectacular. I shot this wedding with my new assistant, Miss Becky Jones. All went very smoothly and I am pleased with the photos. This is the second wedding I have shot here, it's always a pleasure, as the house and grounds are so stunning.

I recently had the honour of photographing the wedding of Marc and Lisa at St Peter's church, Tiverton. Reception at the cleve country hotel, nr Wellington. It was a wonderful day, with full coverage from brides preparation up until the releasing of sky lanterns at mid night. I used a 24-70mm lens which provided some amazing shots, with lots of bokeh which I love! :) I am also now using aperture to edit my photos, I am still getting to grips with it but I am loving it so far, especially the star ratings, quick preview and easy brushes.

This was my first wedding shoot of the year, booked early this year, Steph & Svetlana are a lovely couple. The day went well, started off with some brides preparation shots in one of the penthouse suites at the thistle, then the ceremony at the hotel too followed by lots of formals. James kindly helped me out on this one (our first wedding together). All went well, we both got some really good shots. Reception also held at the hotel. The couple are pleased with the images which is the main thing! Here's a taster:

Kate & Chris are a lovely couple, I shot their wedding on 28th December up on Haldon hill, nr Exeter in Devon. They booked through gumtree early last year, I met them in Exeter a couple of times. I was really looking forward to their wedding as the location was amazing, a little folly up on top of a large hill with stunning panoramic views across Devon. They wanted very relaxed shots with very few formals, this suits me fine, as I prefer this style.

I began to get a bit nervous as the time came nearer as the weather was terrible, very icy and we had to drive up the steepest hill in Devon to get to the venue! The weather was perfect on the day if a little windy. I had an assistant with me as it was quite a large wedding and generally it went very well.

I used a high iso for the indoor shots and experimented with flash for the outdoor group shots but went without. I got some amazing shots on top of the folly, I took the couple up after the ceremony, we discussed the shots when I met them at the location back in July. I'm really pleased with how they came out. The bride was wearing a medieval style gown over her dress so this went perfectly with the caste style turrets.

I used my trusty mini step for the group shots as I think they work better with me slightly higher, I brought along my reflector but didn't need to use it in the end. The lighting is slightly on the darker side but this is to be expected for this time of year and works well I feel.

The reception was in a place called the fingle bridge up on Dartmoor, after a lovely drive across the moor, we arrived at the venue. I got a few mingling shots inside the pub as well as some formals with the newlyweds on the bridge with the pub in the background, I decided to use diffused flash as it was pitch black. The shots came out well.

All in all this was a lovely wedding, in a stunning location. The shots turned out really well. Here are a few of my favourites below. I usually like to get couples to do a 'silly' shot, chris decided to go for the muscle man pose.

what's new for 2010?

The start of a new year is quite an exciting prospect really, I have a few things in mind for 2010 including a 365 project which I have already started. I will be taking a self portrait a day for the whole year and exhibiting it in some form at the end of the year. I have started 365's before but never actually completed one so I am very determined to complete this one!

I am also hoping that 2010 is going to be a good year for my wedding photography business. I have a couple of assistants on board now and am working in conjunction with another photographer in Devon so we will be sharing work.

Yesterday, I had a phone call from someone asking for work experience with me so in a way that was quite pleasing really! I offered him some advice and said he can come along to my next wedding to take some shots.

Just had some positive feedback from my last wedding in Devon which is always nice. Already got a few booked for this year so it's looking likely that I will be able to afford my new lens (70-200 f2.8).

The best thing I did last year (aside from buying a new camera) was getting an account with the image file. It means I pay a small monthly fee to host galleries from which customers can purchase prints. Made some sales already which is good.

I was very lucky to be reccomended by my friend Dan Burman (www.danielburman.com) to Shadric who is a Brighton based graphic designer, he has helped me to make my amazing new wesbite, complete with William Morris background, which I'm very proud of! Shadric is the main man behind Electrofolio, which is a tool for artisits to make their own websites. www.electrofolio.com will be launched later on this year and it is expected to be massive so watch this space! My website will be a featured site on it so I'm hoping it will generate me lots more work!
